A Comprehensive Plan is a vital document that offers a vision for a county's future development. It considers the area's existing conditions, future goals and a general vision for what future growth and development within the county will look like over the next 10 to 20 years. Counties are required to update their Comprehensive Plans every 10 years.
The update process, which is now complete, featured a variety of opportunities for the public to weigh in on the plan elements including community meetings held across the county and a public survey released in September 2021 (click to access survey results).
The Comprehensive Plan is a living document designed to be adaptable to changes that occur in our community over time, as well as the changing visions and goals of residents.
With County Council's adoption of the Natural Resources Element at their December 10, 2024 meeting, all Comprehensive Plan elements have been updated. Each element can be viewed in its entirety by clicking on any of the links to the right under the heading "Adopted Plan Elements."
