Who We Are
The Georgetown County Library System has four friends groups made up of community members who appreciate the treasury of books, magazines, movies, historical documents, research assistance, educational and entertainment programs, new technology, special events, children's activities, meeting space and more that the library offers.
The Friends strive to promote the use of the Georgetown County Public Libraries to the benefit of the community.
What We Do
The Friends hold highly anticipated annual events such as the Yuletide Tour of Homes, Film Festivals, Art Shows and bustling fall and spring book sales. They also sponsor lectures about local history, wildlife, hometown heroes and more, most notably Waccamaw's First Thursday and Georgetown's Tuesdays With... series.
Friends also represent the library at meetings of other organizations, and sponsor the popular Children's Summer Reading Program.
