The Public Services Department provides citizens with the essential services that ensure a healthy and safe lifestyle. Our divisions below work together to make sure Georgetown County remains a premier place to live, work, and play.
Engineering & Capital Projects
This division plans and designs for future community needs - from fire stations to senior centers to bike paths - providing countywide project management support and oversight.
This division maintains, renovates and upgrades all current and future county structures and facilities, providing electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and utility support.
GIS & Asset Management
The GIS and Asset Management Division has dual goals to make Georgetown County's GIS information, spatial database and mapping tools accessible and transparent to the citizens, governmental agencies and businesses we serve for an enhanced understanding of our area's infrastructure and beautiful natural environment; and to monitor and manage the county's myriad assets from facilities to equipment to personnel.
Landfill & Solid Waste
The Landfill & Solid Waste section functions as a component of Georgetown County Environmental Services Division.
As a section of the Stormwater Division, Mosquito Control functions to provide temporary and permanent control methods for the abatement of adult biting mosquitoes.
Public Works & Construction Services
Public Works maintains and improves dirt and paved roads, constructs and maintains storm drainage systems, and maintains Georgetown County right-of-ways throughout unincorporated county areas.
The Recycling Section functions as a component of Georgetown County Environmental Services Division, providing citizens with a convenient means of recycling and solid waste disposal.
This division safeguards our natural environment by designing and building drainage systems that advance responsible development and ensure clean water. In addition, it manages mosquito control throughout the county, effectively and safely managing the mosquito population in order to protect the public from mosquito-transmitted diseases.
