Notice of Election

The Democratic and Republican parties will hold primaries on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Any necessary runoffs will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Any person wishing to vote in the primaries and runoffs must register no later than Sunday, May 15, 2022. Voter registration forms received by mail will be accepted if postmarked by Monday, May 16, 2022. Beginning Monday, May 16, 2022, the county voter registration and elections office will be open for in-person absentee voting during regular business hours and on Saturday, June 11, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Voters will be asked to provide one of the following Photo IDs at their polling place:

  • S.C. Driver's License
  • ID Card issued by S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles
  • S.C. Voter Registration Card with Photo
  • Federal Military ID
  • U.S. Passport

Voters should remember to bring one of these IDs with them to the polling place. Voters without Photo ID can get one free of charge from their county voter registration office or the Department of Motor Vehicles. Voters who encounter an obstacle to getting a Photo ID should bring their paper voter registration card without a photo to their polling place. These voters can then sign an affidavit swearing to their identity and to their obstacle to obtaining a Photo ID and vote a provisional ballot. This ballot will count unless the county board of voter registration and elections has grounds to believe the affidavit is false. At 9 a.m. on the day of the primaries and the day of any necessary runoffs, the county board of voter registration and elections will begin its examination of the absentee ballot return envelopes at Georgetown County Voter Registration & Elections, located at 303 N Hazard St, Georgetown, SC 29440. At 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2022, the county board of canvassers will hold a hearing to determine the validity of all provisional ballots cast in the primaries. These hearings will be held at Georgetown County Voter Registration & Elections, located at 303 N Hazard St, Georgetown, SC 29440.

The following precincts and polling places will be open during the primaries and runoffs from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Polling places are subject to change under certain conditions. Voters can check their assigned polling place at scVOTES.gov before going to the polls on Election Day.

Notice of Public Hearing Concerning Needs Assessment

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 6:00 pm at the Wacccamaw Regional Council of Governments, Conference Room, 1230 Highmarket Street, Georgetown, SC 29440 Georgetown County will hold a public hearing to solicit public input on community needs and priorities for housing, public facilities, and economic development. At this public hearing Georgetown County will provide the results of its needs assessment and the activities which might be undertaken to meet identified needs, including the estimated amount proposed to be used for activities that will benefit persons of low and moderate income. This public hearing and the matters to be discussed are subject to the provisions of the Georgetown County Citizen Participation Plan, developed in anticipation of participation in the State of South Carolina's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, providing for the participation of the citizens of Georgetown County in the planning and implementation of community and economic development projects which will involve CDBG funds. The Citizen Participation Plan is available for review at the bottom of this page or in person at the County Administrative Office, 716 Prince Street, Georgetown, SC 29440 from 9:00am- 5:00pm.
