April is National County Government Month! In recognition, Georgetown County Council issued a proclamation in honor of all that county government does, from providing law enforcement and fire protection, to economic development, to solid waste disposal.
The nation's 3,069 counties serving more than 315 million Americans provide essential services to create healthy, safe and vibrant communities. Counties fulfill a vast range of responsibilities and deliver services that touch nearly every aspect of our residents’ lives.
Georgetown County serves its more than 64,000 residents, with an eye to fiscal preservation and promoting the health, safety, knowledge and welfare of residents. It takes pride in its responsibility to protect and enhance our residents' health, well-being and safety in efficient and cost-effective ways.
