Mask ordinance no longer in place in Georgetown County

A mask ordinance that was in place in Georgetown County for just over a year was allowed to expire on April 28. County Council had renewed the ordinance every few months since it was first put in place in March of 2020. Renewal was not on the agenda for Council's April 27 meeting, so the ordinance is no longer in effect.

Residents are reminded that though the county ordinance is no longer in place, businesses can still enforce mask mandates on their properties and can ask visitors to leave the premises if they do not comply. Additionally, mask ordinances may still apply within municipalities in the county.
