Housand named County IT Director

Portrait of Seth Housand

Seth Housand, a longtime employee of Georgetown County’s MIS Department was promoted this month to Department Director. He is the first in-house director the department has had in nearly a decade. The county previously contracted with an outside firm to provide management of MIS and its staff.

Housand joined the county’s IT team in January 2012 and distinguished himself as a leader in recent years, particularly in the aftermath of a ransomware attack the county fell victim to this January. Housand was vital to the county’s recovery efforts following the attack, and that played a significant part in the decision to promote him to director, said County Administrator Angela Christian.

In his previous role within the department, Housand was responsible for general Network maintenance and upgrades, new equipment installations, managing county telecommunications equipment and accounts, was the subject matter expert for county security systems and has overseen technological needs for the county during numerous disasters over the years, in addition to other duties. Prior to joining the county team, Housand was an intelligence analyst for the S.C. Army National Guard.
